Tenaga Generasi Wind Power Project at Gharo, District Thatta, Sindh, Pakistan

Tenaga Generasi Limited (TGL) have installed Tenaga Generasi Wind Power Project at Gharo, District Thatta, Sindh, Pakistan. The site is about 35 km to the south west of Gharo Town.

M/s CMEC, China, were the project managers for the project. M/s ME Consult (Private) Limited are the consultants for the project.

In order to obtain geotechnical information about the substrata and to plan and design foundations along with related aspects, a program of geotechnical investigation was planned. For the purpose TGL engaged the services of `Geotechnical Services’ Karachi. The field work was conducted in May-June, 2011.

The investigation program consisted of drilling 33 boreholes at proposed wind turbine locations. In addition, 10 boreholes were drilled for ancillary structures i.e., GIS Substation, two Main Transformers, Electrical Control Rooms, Fire Pumps and Emergency Generators. The depth of these boreholes varied from 9 to 45m.

The investigation program also included the performance of 3 Seismic Downhole Tests and 10 Electrical Resistively Tests.
